Love
gnomi

We’ve been talking about lot’s of upsetting topics these past few weeks. From disunity within our country to finding the courage and strength IN GOD to love one another despite our opinions. Today, I want to talk about something much more light hearted: LOVE.

I want to introduce you to my beloved fur baby: Gnomi (pronounced No-mee). She is my 18 year old half blind, half deaf beauty. I would try to put into words how much I love her but, as many of you pet owners know, I would fail miserably. I would also probably turn into a blubbering fool, incited and moved by my love for her. Suffice to say: she’s my little blessing from above.

The other day, I went to feed her. She’s older and extremely finicky so I may go through four to five cans a day before she settles on a flavor of food she actually is ok with. This one day, after Ms. Diva selected her meal for the day, she ate it with so much pleasure as she “nom, nom’d, nom’d” away. It was a new flavor; I think she approved.

As she ate, she would take a moment to turn her little face and look at me as I intently stared at her. I stare at her because I enjoy watching my little love be so happy. Every minute that she chomped away at her meal, my heart filled with satisfaction.

At that moment, I felt something so strong overcome me. I sat on the floor to continue to watch her and I felt a voice inside me ask: “why are you staring at her?”

I answered: “because I love her. I love her soooooooo much. Just looking at her fills me with so much joy.

I felt that same internal voice say: “I feel the same way……about YOU.”

We all know what happened next: I turned into that sobbing fool that I wanted to avoid being. Lol. I think you all know what I’m getting at. This internal voice, I believe, was God. How do I know? I do. I know it in the core of my being. Plus, how many times do we—in THIS self deprecating society—take a “time out” to tell ourselves how much we love ourselves? Ummmmm….. like NEVER. So, if it is NOT from me AND it is SO edifying and loving, it MUST be from God. Also, if God used a DONKEY to deliver messages in the Bible, why not a cat?!!

Honestly, I think God will use WHATEVER He can to capture our attention because He loves us. He loves us so much He will get close to the things (activities/people/ pets) we treasure to have a moment with us.

In conclusion: I had just had a “God moment” and in this moment God took the time to tell me through a creature that I love—how much He loves me.

The reality of the matter, folks, is that God loves us even more than we love our pets, family, etc. He loves us perfectly because He is perfect. I don’t know about you but, for me, that is so hard to even imagine. I would do anything for my pet and yet I know God would do even more for us.

In closing I want to leave you with this scripture: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10)

I share this verse with you because when I look at my cat as you do with your kids, pets, loved ones…..I see a masterpiece. It’s funny how that is EXACTLY what God sees too.

Take a moment TODAY to bask in God’s love.
